Laura Finnerty Melsheimer is a digital artist with a BA in Fine Art from Hamilton College and an MFA in Graphic Design from Boston University.

Influenced by her background in both fine art and graphic design, Laura creates unique giclée digital prints that evoke the painterly qualities of more traditional works of art but possess a contemporary flair.

Laura grew up spending summers on Cape Cod and has lived in San Francisco, Boston and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. She has been inspired by the natural beauty of each of these coastal regions. Laura chooses natural objects such as shells, leaves and flowers as subjects because these objects are simplistic and beautiful in their form yet possess subtle detailing. She manipulates her subjects to emphasize their fragility and create a quiet reverberation of imagery on the page.

The resulting visual rhythm lends a more emotional quality to the work and evokes the idea that all living things in nature are fragile and fleeting in the cycle of time.

Laura divides her time between Boston, MA and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. She is married with a young daughter.
